UF Office of Chief Diversity Officer

The University of Florida named Antonio Farias as its first Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) and Senior Advisor to the UF President Dr. W. Kent Fuchs in July 2018.

As the inaugural CDO, Antonio Farias is focused on three main priorities:

  1. Signaling the UF mission: “The University of Florida must create the broadly diverse environment necessary to foster multicultural skills and perspectives in teaching and research for its students to contribute and succeed in the world of the 21st.”
  2. Creating a sustainable and resilient network capable of supporting every Gator so they can thrive at UF and beyond.
  3. Shaping the University of Florida’s climate and culture to foster the success of all Gators.

The CDO launched the network of Campus Diversity Liaisons (CDLs) – experts embedded in each college and business unit who are working to advance UF priorities in a site-specific, intentional way. CDLS are representatives from the leadership teams of each college or business unit, who are networked into the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer. The Chief Diversity Officer and the CDLs believe in advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) in the service of UF’s Mission.
