In Celebration of Black History Month

Honoring the Legacy of Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, MHSA, CPE, FACEP

November 6, 1964 – July 24, 2021

Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, MHSA, CPE, FACEP, was an exceptional physician, leader, mentor and colleague in the medical community. Haley made history as the first African American CEO of UF Health Jacksonville and dean of UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville. He was the first person in the state of Florida to receive the COVID-19 vaccine encouraging others to stay safe and protected during a global pandemic. Dr. Haley was instrumental in the launch of UF Health Brain Wellness Program – Jacksonville, now named the UF Health Jacksonville Leon L/ Haley Jr., M.D., Brain Wellness Program. Faculty and staff at UF Health Jacksonville and UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville are committed to continuing his legacy of servant leadership.
