As the nation celebrates Black History Month, the University of Florida is honored to share the extraordinary voices that have vibrantly contributed to the institution’s excellence. There are a series of planned virtual events throughout the month listed below.


Race and History at the University of Florida: 115 Years of Cultural Transformation

Friday, Feb. 5, 2021

The UF International Center invites you to celebrate Black History Month with their virtual presentation of “Race and History at the University of Florida: 115 Years of cultural Transformation” on Feb. 5th from 12 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.

This webinar offers a retrospective look at the history of race at the University of Florida through images from the UF Archives Photograph Collection.

The webinar will be presented by Carl Van Ness, UF Historian,
and moderated by Twanna Hodge, UF Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Librarian.

Museum Nights: Sanfoka! 

Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Experience art from throughout Africa and the African diaspora, as we take inspiration from Sankofa to bring together art-past and art-present in conversation and performance. 

This live event will take place on the Harn’s YouTube Channel on Thursday, February, 11th at 7pm EST
